Review: Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo

Hey everyone! Today I'll be reviewing Maybelline's 24 Hour Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze.  I love this product and definitely recommend it for a smokey taupe look.

Name: Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze
Price: $6-$10
Where to Buy: Drugstores and Ulta

This product claims "Cream gel smoothes on for vibrant, crease-proof color that never fades" (Ulta.com). In terms of consistency, this product scores high on my list. It is definitely bold and intense and is wonderfully thick and creamy. As for staying power, I found that after only 8 hours of wear, the product had pretty much disappeared. Left: Swatch right out of the container Right: Product blended.

Here is a look I created using the Color Tattoo along with Maybelline's eyeshadow palette in Caffeine Rush. I love the way the cream shadow provides the perfect base for a light smokey eye and easily blends.

This last photo is how my eyes looked at the end of the day (about eight hours). I was very disappointed that the shadow faded away almost completely, especially since I primed my eyes and set them with powder shadow.

Overall, here are my pros and cons.

Pros:
Great price and availability
color selection
applies smoothly
Pigmented

Cons:
Creases
Fades too quickly

Have you ever tried this product?

Nail Trends Spring 2013

Hey beauties! Hope everyone has had a great start to the week! Today I thought I'd share with you my favorite nail polish trends coming up this spring. Which is your favorite?

xoxo Morgan

I just love these three colors together! I just love the peppy pop Butter London's Fruit Machine gives to the nails. Who can pass up this lovely nude from Essie? Crewed Interest
O.P.I's Eurso Euro is so eye-catching and elegant, it's definitely my favorite of the Euro Centrale collection.

These next colors definitely satisfy my mermaid obsession. American Apparel's Office is the perfect mint and will surely be a hit this season. I also love Chanel's Pearl Drop reminds me of an undersea pearl in a mermaid lagoon. My last and favorite mermaid-inspired polish has got to be O.P.I's Austin-tatious Turquoise. I happen to own this color and spend much of my summer marveling at how it shimmers underwater. I really do feel like a mermaid when that happens:)

Fashion TAG!

1. How would you describe your style?
I'd say my style is preppy and girly.

2. What are you wardrobe staples?
I love bows, dresses, and stacked bracelets.

3. Most expensive item in your closet?
To be honest, I don't spend that much on individual clothing items, and that is probably why my closet is overflowing. My most expensive item I guess is my Modlcoth "Frill There Was You" dress (navy one shoulder). I love it so much and found that my money was well spent!

4. Most wanted item?
Definitely mint lace shorts!!!!! I've wanted them for so long but have had no luck finding them anywhere!!!!

5. Favorite designer?
I drool over Lilly Pulitzer. Oh how much I love the pattern Ugotta Regatta:)

6. How much do you spend on clothes?
Like I mentioned before, although most of my savings is spent on clothes, I don't shop at high end stores. I prefer to buy a lot of clothes rather than one expensive item.

7. What are your favorite places to shop?
I love to shop at Forever 21, Modcloth, H&M, J. Crew, American Eagle, and Francesca's Boutique.

8. Favorite fragrance?
I love Burberry Brit and Dolce and Gabana Light Blue.

9. Whats your favorite way to do your hair?
I love wearing loose curls! *Sigh*...Isn't Lauren Conrad gorgeous?

10. What is your go-to outfit when you have no idea what to wear?
I'll usually throw on dark wash skinny jeans, a tight fitting tee, infinity scarf, and some sort of jewelry.

11. One fashion trend you wish would come back or stay:
I'm so sad to have to see burgundy go as spring comes around. It was definitely my favorite Fall/Winter trend.

12. Show us your most prized possession in your wardrobe:
I absolutely love this one white dress I have from American Eagle. It flatters me perfectly and is so pretty in the summer.

Hope you all enjoyed! Answer these questions in the comments below!

What's In My Purse?

Hey everyone! Happy Sunday! Today I thought I'd introduce you to my newest handbag and best friend, Stephanie. I got her from Target for just $40! I always have to have a few essentials in my bag, and I thought I'd share them with you. What's in your purse?
 xoxo Morgan

I always need to have these three items in my bag in the Winter time. Bath and body works hand sanitzer, Kleenex, and hand lotion to cope with the dry air and everyone being sick.

I also need to make sure I have these life savers. You never know when you're gonna need some gum or a snack, and water is a must. I always find myself getting so thirsty when I'm shopping and on the go.

I always have one of my wallets whether it be a clutch or a wristlet like this one. In it, I have my cards, cash and phone. Don't you love my Minnie Mouse keychain:) My Swiss Army Knife always comes in handy for snipping tags, filing nails, and fighting off crime.

Whether you've got kids or are just a super clumsy girl like me, I always carry around my Band-Aids. To tell you the truth, I'm obsessed with the fact that they're Barbie. I also find myself pulling out my Spongebob Uno cards every now and then. They're great for restaurants or train rides.

In terms of beauty, I don't carry much. Just a teasing comb, mascara, lip balm, eye product, and a powder and kabuki. A fresh powder is perfect after working out or a hot day.

Lastly, I always like to have a magazine on me. People Style Watch is my favorite. I also LOVE to make lists. They just calm me down and let me accumulate my thoughts. That's why I always need a pad of paper and a pen in my bag.

Hope you enjoyed! Let me know what's in your bag!

New Beauty Products

1. Sigma Flat Top Kabuki I love this brush! the dense fibre bristles apply my makeup effortlessly. I love the way my face looks after I stipple my foundation with it. No flaking, no dry accentuation, and not a spot of cakeyness! $18 Amazon
2. Almay Wake-up Liquid Foundation Is another one of my new found loves. Paired with the felt top kabuki, this foundation is so natural and leaves my face feeling hydrated all day. In terms of coverage, it's definitely more on the sheer side, especially when I stipple it on. It is so build able though and makes for the perfect everyday face. $12.99 at Ulta
3. Sigma E30 (White pencil brush) When I recently purchased my three Sigma brushes, I was sent this one for free! I was also amazed by the difference between it and my elf studio eyeshadow brush. The amount of product it picks up is incredible and its dense, pointed tip allows me to get the perfect shadow look. $13.99 on Amazon
4. Sigma E45 Tapered Blending Brush I have been so reluctant to purchasing a blending brush but since I was ordering my other brushes I decided to go for it. And let me tell you after that first use, I knew I was never going back. I'm in love with the shape and application, plus I know it will last me forever. $13 on Amazon
5. Sigma F30 Large Powder This brush was the one I was most excited about. I mean, come on, it's a giant fluffy kabuki on a stick! I love using this for bronzer. That's because when I use a smaller contouring brush, it can easily apply too heavily. But with this one, the product is applied lightly and smoothly, leaving that perfect glowy look. $25 on Amazon
6. L'Oreal Sudio Secrets Magic Lumi Face Primer This product has been getting a lot of hype lately, and let me tell you, it deserves it! I was never a primer person, but this one has got me hooked. It comes out as a silky, pearlescent color and goes on like some kind of cloud. The best part is that you only need less than a pea-sized amount to cover your entire face! $13.99 at Ulta

TAG! Get to Know Me

Happy Friday everyone! I know I've been blogging for about a month now, but I thought I'd do the Get to Know Me Tag anyways. Here are the questions so comment below with your answers!

xoxo Morgan

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?   My hair is naturally thick and wavy. More about that here.

2. What is your natural hair color?  My hair is light; kind of a sandy blondish. It's the last one in this post.

3. Do you dye it yourself or go to the salon? I don't color my hair at all.

4. How often do you watch your hair? Since my hair is so thick, it does't get greasy. I can and often do go a while without washing since it gets too dry if it'ts constantly getting washed. On average, maybe every three days.

5. Do you wear the same style everyday or change it? I usually wear it down, however I change up curling, straightening, braiding, and just wearing it natural.

6. Do you do your own mani/pedi or do you go to the salon? I love painted nails! I usually do it myself but if it's a special occasion I'll get them done professionally.

7. How often do you change your nail polish? I paint my nails every Sunday night.

8. Do you polish you toes in the Winter or just in the Summer? Where I live, it gets pretty cold in the winter! I paint my toes maybe once a month in the Winter but every week in the Summer.

9. How long does it take you to do your makeup? It takes me about fifteen minutes or so. If you'd like to see my everyday routine, comment below!

10. What do you do first, your face or eyes? I sort of hop around haha... I'll do my eyeshadow, then my foundation, then my mascara, then blush/bronzer/highlight

11. Do you "collect" makeup or just get it when you need it? I collect makeup like it's my job!!! I love researching products and building up my collection.

12. How often do wear false eyelashes? Never! I think the voluminous everyday ones are gorgeous though.

13.  Do you do a full face of makeup everyday? I have bad skin, so usually I wear foundation everyday except Sunday.

14. Do you wear makeup when you're home alone or with family? Not often.

15. Will you leave the house without makeup? It depends where I'm going. If I'm just going to Target, yes but if I'm going out for the day or night no way!

16. How many high end products do you have? I think this question is stupid and braggy. I do own high end products, but who cares how much? My favorite is definitely my sigma brushes.

17. How often do you wash your makeup brushes? Honestly, very rarely. They don't break me out when they're dirty and I find that washing them ruins the bristles.

18. Do you plan you OOTD every night or decide when you're getting dressed? I plan my outfits every night, either in my head or actually lay out the clothes. It just makes things so much quicker and easier in the morning.

19. How often do you change your handbag? I change my purse about every season. I don't own any expensive bags, but I recently purchased the cutest one from Target! Look for a What's in my Bag in the near future!

20. What time do you get up and go to sleep? I go to sleep around 10:30 PM and wake up at 5:53 AM if I'm putting heat on my hair and 6:02 AM. I know these times sound like airplane departures but it was really hard to set my alarm to exact times.

21. How often or when do you work out? I try and work out at least three times a week.

22. Are you left or right handed? I am a righty.

23. How tall are you? I am 5'7".

24. Do you speak a foreign language? I don't speak another language fluently, but I am currently taking Spanish.

25. How many pets do you have? I have a yellow lab (dog) but I would LOVE a French Bulldog!

(26-28) do not apply to me)

29. How did you come up with your blog name? I've always loved little details and things that other people may miss in life:)

30. What kind of camera do you use for photographs? I use my iPhone 5 the photos are so clear and focused!

31. How often do you clean your house? I clean Sunday to prepare for the week to come and Thursday to recover from the week so far.

32. What is your favorite color? I love every shade of pink! I also love a nice coral.

Hanging Valentine's Day Hearts

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I've been loving these adorable hanging hearts! They're so easy to make with everyday craft supplies and even things you wanted to throw away! Hope you enjoy!

xoxo Morgan

Materials

Colored Cardstock
Tissue Paper
Ribbon
Scissors
Glue
String
Decorative Edge Scissors
Photos
Anything you'd like!

The first thing you want to do is cut out any number of cardstock hearts. Cardstock holds up much better than ordinary colored paper and will prevent the hearts from flopping over.

The next step is simple--go all out! I used tissue paper to create dainty flower-like details, decorative edge scissors, photos, and ribbon. I used a plastic sandwich bag dipped in white paint to stamp the texture on the heart in the top right corner. I used gold nail polish to make the anchor on the center nautical heart.

I love the way these turned out! They're the perfect focal point in my bedroom and I'll enjoy them all February long.

DIY "Cocoon" Blanket Tutorial

Hey guys! Long time, no blog! Sorry for the long break, things should get back to normal soon! A little while ago I decided I wanted to try to make what I call a "Cocoon Blanket". Basically, it's two pieces of fleece sewn together and sewn down three sides to make a little sack. Let me tell you guys, It is the COZIEST thing ever!!!! Now I don't have to worry about my feet slipping out the bottom like my normal blankets do. Keep in mind I am a beginner at sewing, and I even sewed through my finger while trying to fit the thick fabric in my machine... such an amateur mistake, I know. Anyways, enjoy and let me know if you have any questions!

Materials:

  • At least 2 yards of a fleece fabric, or however long the person is that you are making the blanket for. I found the most darling whales:)
  • A second layer fabric; I found this pre-sewn micro fleece fabric at Jo Anns and it worked perfectly.
  • Fabric Scissors
  • Straight pins
  • Sewing Machine or needle and thread

Step 1: Lay out your fabrics, with your bottom layer on the top of the stack.

Step 2: Cut and fold the edges of the decorative layer and pin them in place.

Use your sewing machine or hand to sew THREE sides of the blanket. Leave one side, ideally a shorter one, unsewn. You can hem the final edge so that the raw edge is folded over. A word of advice: If using a sewing machine, use a strong needle, like a 16/100 and make sure there is a lot of space behind your sewing machine. I had three perfectly good needles snapped and a needle through my finger twice because of this issue. But that injury is another story.

At last, your blanket is complete! Don't you just want to hop inside of it? I think I'll go do that right now:)
